How to Fold a Fitted Sheet

Are you tired of looking at your messy linen closet with sheets sloppily folded or just shoved in there?  Check out this tutorial on How to Fold a Fitted Sheet which is a good place to start for an organized linen closet!  My mom taught me this technique and her mom taught her.

It's tried and true.  Here we go...

How to Fold a Fitted Sheet

1.   Begin with the fitted sheet inside out spread out on the floor or a flat surface.

2.   Find the longer side of the sheet.  Place your hands (finger tips out) in the corners of the long side of the sheet.

3.   Bring the corners of the sheet covering your finger tips together at the tip of the seam.

4.   Fold the right side over the left hand.  Both corners should now be on your left hand.

5.   Slip your right hand inside with your left hand and bring your left hand out.

6.   Look down to the left and find the "other" 2 corners.  Scoop them up with your left hand making sure the tips of the seams are at the tips of your fingers.  The original corners should still be on your right hand.

7.   Again, bring the corners of the sheet together at the tip of the seam.  Fold the right side over the left hand like before.  All 4 corners should now be on your left hand.

8.   Slip your right hand inside with your left hand and bring your left hand out.

9.   Look down to the left again and find the elastic folds, bring them together.

10.   Lay the sheet down again on the floor or a flat surface as shown below.  Now, you're ready to fold!  Fold the right side over 1/3 of the way.  Then, fold the left side over.  Finally, fold the top down and the bottom up.

Woohoo!  You're done!

I'm using a queen fitted sheet here, but this method will work the same with any size.  This also works best with a wrinkle-free sheet.  Luckily, I have a "steam-refresh" setting on my dryer!  Ironing (yeah, right) or a clothing steamer would work too.  Or just leave it wrinkly...at least it will be folded nicely!

Good luck!
